BEAUTY: My skin care routine + essentials

Hey everyone! I know I have only been sharing make up looks with you in my recent beauty posts but today, let me talk to you about my skin care routine and essentials.

To achieve a flawless make up look, it is important to have a clean and flawless base hence skin is the main. I can say I am one blessed soul to have minimal skin flaws on my face, thanks to my genes, but that’s not enough to not have my own skin care regime.

The first steps to my skin care routine is cleansing.

I put on make up on a regular basis, whether it’s a full on glam or an everyday no makeup make up look. All because I work in an industry where grooming should always be spot on.

Step 1: With make up on, I use a max of 2 cotton pads (depends on how heavy my make up is) and use the Garnier Skin Active Micellar cleasing water. It is very important to get a product with no fragrance/perfume especially when you have sensitive skin.

Step 2: I wash my face with a mild facial foam cleanser. Again with my sensitive skin, products with mild formulation is what you always go for.

Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface. I do it maximum 3 times a week, and it’s the most amazing thing ever. It just gives you a baby skin like feeling, as it leaves your skin softer and looking more radiant, and I’m not even exaggerating.

Step 3: To complete my cleansing routine, I take 2 cotton pads and soak it with my toner. Toners actually remove any impurities that may still be lingering on your skin even after washing your face. FYI – There are 2 types of toners: 1. pH balancing toners; and 2. Moisturizing toners. I use the latter as my skin tends to be more dry than oily.

Steps 4, 5, and 6 include moisturizers! I mean, you know what they say, it’s never too early to start with your anti-ageing skin care routine. And I believe that in order to maintain that youthful glow and smooth skin is to always keep it hydrated.

I use this Aloe Vera gel as my essence. I am in love with this product because not only is it very affordable, but it really hydrates your face and it is not sticky at all, especially when it has been absorbed by your skin.

And let me just brag about Tarte Cosmetic’s Maracuja Oil.. it’s just magical. I have been using this oil religiously and it does not fail. Whatever is said on the box, I agree 100%! It’s a must use and the effects in the long run is as if it gave you new skin, or back to baby skin in other words.

Another one that I’ve been using ever since is the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. This is my 3rd tube that is also almost over, and it’s my Face Lotion. It’s very light on the skin and gives a smooth finish.

But of course, for the last and final step, let’s not forget the lips being part of your face that also needs some TLC. This Lush Cosmetics all purpose balm is my favourite! This is what I use as part of my night time beauty routine, otherwise I have the Neutrogena lip balm with me 24/7.

I am proud to say that I am all about skin care, and it is indeed a process that I love going about with everyday. With having to have soft, smooth, glowing skin, I am able to let my face breathe from makeup everyday. I basically just spot conceal and apply a very light lip and cheek tint, and brows and voila, I’m good to go. Oh, and dewy skin is my thing so I only set my concealer and other than that, no powder! From 20 minutes of having to put make up is actually cut down to 5. Gives me 15mins more to sleep before I get ready for another shift!

If you want to know more about skin care, especially of which products should suit your skin, hit me up and maybe I can help you. I have done some learning and searching myself! Also if you already have one and you have products you want me to try, share the love below!
